Warwick Austin

Warwick Austin began selling real estate, part-time on week-ends, at the age of nineteen in 1963. He was immediately successful and became very popular with buyers and sellers. Colleagues nicknamed him ā€œAce Austinā€. But, he says, he never ā€˜soldā€™ houses ā€“ people bought them.

In 1970, in Sydneyā€™s southern suburbs, he established his own business which won consumer-based business awards, and recognition ā€˜For Service to the Local Communityā€™, at Local Government level. During his career Warwick studied ā€˜Conveyancing Law and Practiceā€™ at Macquarie University, part-time. He became an exceptional student, and was commended for gaining ā€œThe highest mark ever awarded in the history of the courseā€. Warwick was offered a position at the University, but he declined, preferring to remain in real estate.

He has seen all of the ā€˜booms-and-bustsā€™: the credit squeeze of ā€™61; the boom of ā€™72; the bust in ā€™74; recovery in ā€™81; the frenetic boom of ā€™88; the recession in ā€™90-91; the strong growth boom from ā€™97 to 2003; and the downturn from ā€™03 until now, ā€™06.

Warwick Austin was born in Sydney and still lives there with his wife of thirty-six years, Elizabeth. They have two daughters, Kathryn and Sally, and four grandchildren. Elizabeth joined Warwick in the business in 1997. After forty-three years in the real estate business, having dealt with many thousands of buyers and sellers from all walks of life, and met hundreds of agents ā€“ good and bad, the time finally came for Warwick Austin to write Real Estate Agents and You!
