With a career in the military and personal protection, Darren Franklin has served his working life in protecting people. It was no wonder then why he agreed to protect the vast amounts of asylum seekers seeking refugee status in Australia. Carefully balancing the security interests of fellow Australians as well as the health and well-being of the refugees, Darren (as a senior manager) was exposed to behaviour the general Australian public were not aware of. The collaborative media spin-doctoring with refugee advocates did little to tell the real truth of what happened within the wire. Sworn to secrecy by way of a confidentiality agreement whilst employed within his immigration detention career, Darren grimaced at every false claim made from every angle. What occurred within the detention environment has never been told from a senior manager until now.
Within The Wire was written to make the Australian Taxpayer aware of the real truth of what actually occurred with immigration detention facilities and with so much talk of human rights, there was a lack of those rights to the hard working men and women in the facilities who actually were Australian citizens.
