Lyn Carter [PhD, MEd, BEc, DipEd] has fifteen years of experience teaching mathematics to students from primary to Year 12. After leaving teaching to pursue an academic and business career, she established a business, Count on Numeracy, providing professional development for teachers of mathematics in the secondary and upper primary years and also worked in a similar capacity at the Queensland University of Technology. Lyn is the author (with literacy expert Pat Hipwell) of primary school readers incorporating mathematical concepts and is a participating author of books in the How to Write What You Want to Say series. Lyn is an experienced player of Contract Bridge, having represented the ACT, Queensland and Australia in competition. With her husband, Malcolm, they now teach and direct bridge on cruise ships. When at home, they participate in a weekly program of teaching bridge to children and have recently released a book describing the successful methods that they have developed in this program.
