Manfred Jurgensen

Born of Danish-German background, Manfred has lived most of his adult life in Australia. He has published five novels, an autobiography, twelve volumes of poetry, including a collection of selected poems, The Otherness of Words, and a history of Australia in verse, Shadows of Utopia. Despite his deep commitment and love for his adopted country, he admits to many of his cultural views retaining an essentially ‘European’ outlook. The last Australia Day offers some of his thoughts and ideas about his homeland from that distinctive perspective. Manfred lives in Brisbane with his wife and Ragdoll cat Shelley.
