Cynthia Lindenmayer

Cynthia is a mature woman who came to writing rather late in life, only taking it up as a hobby to help pass lonely hours when her husband was away from home on business. She completed, and eventually published her first book, Reflections of a Queensland Country Girl, in 1999-2000, at age 63. It is semi-autobiographical, and was originally intended only for family consumption. But, at that time, the late Professor David Myers, of CQU Press, was in the process of re-publishing Walk a Mile in My Shoes, the biographical work of her late father, Tom Collins, and, at David’s suggestion, Cynthia published Reflections through the CQU Publishing Unit to coincide with the release of her Dad’s book. The book was well received, and has subsequently been re-published in two slightly expanded versions, the latest (the third edition) by Boolarong Press in 2012.

In 2002, she first tried her hand at fiction writing, self-publishing her first novel, Myra’s Escape from the Shadows. Like all her subsequent novels: Guilty Secrets, 2007; Facades, 2010; In the Blink of an Eye, (Boolarong Press 2016 digital only); they are novels with a strong feminist flavour containing some strongly erotic passages, particularly in the last of the four.
