Steve Hawe

A lifetime in the outback has taught Steve Hawe that survival equals many hats.  Sometime ringer, horse-breaker, truckie, farrier, fencer, and lately sheep grazier, he now lives with his wife west of Longreach, Queensland.

Time out for him when not chasing his tail is strumming his guitar and writing. Recently, he contributed to Bron Blake’s (author of ‘Gulf Women’ amongst others) upcoming drought anthology with working title ‘Hanging On’, now with the publisher. Lately, he’s been known to disappear, only to re-emerge bleary-eyed with yet another short story to add to a repertoire of colourful and diverse themes, or to work on his first, book-length manuscript.

Forever in trouble for time-wasting, whether listening for the coo of the ruby-eyed diamond dove or re-inventing the wheel at the work-bench, life is pretty damn good. The trick for him, of course, hang onto those hats!
