Ian Callinan is a prolific writer. He has had four of his plays produced and has written many short stories, novels, reviews, literary criticisms and legal treatises.
Ian served as one of the seven Justices of the High Court of Australia for nine years. Throughout his career as a leading barrister and a judge he has continued to write his fiction and plays.
His work encompasses many aspects of Australian life and affairs over the last 100 or so years. His novels reflect his wide knowledge and interests in the law, politics, art, literature, business, theatre and history. Across these ranges he has produced rare insights into the areas few of which have been visited by any other Australian novelists.
