Charles Tyson was brought up on Springwood, the family cattle station that was originally part of Meteor Downs. He has had a lifelong interest in reading and local history.
With his wife Mary, he left the family partnership and moved to “Hawthorne” west of Springsure in 1989. They retired to “Braeside” on the outskirts of Springsure, and he has started writing as well as reading.
He has utilised extracts from others who have written about this area, as well as talking to people who have worked on Meteor Downs. One regret is that if he had started years ago, there would be more people with first-hand knowledge to help him.
