Lynne Hume

As an anthropologist, Dr. Lynne Hume is a well-known author of academic books and journal articles focused on anthropology and studies in religion/spirituality, having lectured in both Canada and Australia. She is an Honorary Research Consultant for The University of Queensland. Strumpets of the Worst Kind is her first foray into historical fiction.

A serendipitous visit to the site of the Female Factory in Hobart in 2014 sparked her interest in discovering more about convict women in 19th century Australia. After eighteen months of research, she realized that the best way to convey the feel of what life might be like for these women would be through a fictional account based on historical facts.
