It’s a remarkable debut novel on a subject of global interest and speculation: the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic. The story fleshes out a most interesting, and an almost credible conspiracy that may well represent the truth. The writer has brilliantly weaved a tapestry of intrigue with the threads of many factual events happening around the globe and produced a highly readable and entertaining account that is bound to keep the readers savouring till the last page of the novel. The novel challenges its readers to think about the question, “Can the end justify the means?” This novel not only entertains but also informs and educates. A highly recommended read.

A novel in the thriller genre and a gripping read. This compelling pageturner focuses on contemporary events spanning continents and cultures. An early and absorbing Covid-19 novel. Entertaining and highly recommended.

  3. John Bourke, Tasmania

This impressive first novel follows the complex career of the Chinese born Li who benefited from a scholarship to continue his studies in virology at an American university. Not only did he acquire knowledge and expertise from the leaders in the field but also met Lisa who followed him back to Wuhan in China. In addition, Li cultivated a friendship with David in America
resulting in a fetish-driven relationship pursued lifelong. The novel’s characterisations cleverly chronicle the ambiguities of the dramatis personae. We are introduced to some hilarious commentary on academic life and intrigues. The novel’s serious theme is enlivened thereby.

  4. Ed James, New South Wales

This is a cleverly constructed debut novel and an enjoyable read, not predictable or too long. The characters of the main protagonists are developed well in the book’s early chapters. The story is about the choices people make to achieve their aims and the reasons they give to justify their actions. Readers of this novel will ponder what they would do if they were confronted with the same challenges and choices as Li, Lisa, and David. The writer makes the reader think about what has really happened with Covid-19, and whether we will ever truly know the truth. It is obvious that the writer has an insight into the machinations of universities and governments and was able to include these in the story. This debut novel will attract quite a few followers.

  5. Sarath Jayawardana, Western Australia

The writer provokes our thoughts about the possibilities of the origin and consequences of the Covid-19 virus. The story of the novel is educational, entertaining, thought-provoking, and highly recommended to read.

  6. Philip Evans, Western Australia

The author has written an engaging narrative on perhaps the most momentous event in modern world history. It would be difficult to imagine a theme that was more significant or appropriate today. The novel, which follows the lives of three central characters, provides a highly educative and critical discussion of the geographical, cultural, and political issues and intrigues which have dominated China in the 20th century.

The novel is as much a treatise on human rights as an examination of the conjectural causes of the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, the sections dealing with contemporary Australian university governance, policies and personalities have been clearly written by an author with long experience in academia and provide a humorous distraction, whilst still relevant, from
the novel’s central theme. The interrelationships between education, political intrigue, medical science, and human relationships have been cleverly interwoven to produce a highly entertaining and thought-provoking novel.

  7. Augusto Zimmermann, Western Australia

If you love novels about intriguing conspiracies, this book is certainly for you. In his impressive debut novel, the author reflects on a post-coronavirus world and the social upheavals caused by Covid-19. The author has a unique talent for creating a good conspiracy of memorable imagery. The colourful interactions between the characters are truly fascinating, including the portrait of fictitious academics, researchers and governmental authorities, and their active collusion in a conspiracy surrounding the outbreak of the pandemic. I loved it so much that I could not stop reading from the moment I started.
