Keeping the Peace Volume V is the culmination of a truly remarkable series of books which will provide future researchers with an invaluable record of police work in the state of Queensland. As with previous volumes, this book contains a treasure trove of personal reminiscences and the first-hand experiences of Queensland police officers — memoirs which bring to life the day-to-day realities of the men and women who regularly risk their own lives to ensure the safety of the public.

The book is a credit to editor and compiler Laurie Pointing, who spent a total of 35 years as a Queensland police officer. Laurie joined as a Probationary Constable in 1958 and rose to the rank of Assistant Commissioner. In 2017, his community work was recognised with an Order of Australia Award. Over the past decade, Laurie Pointing has worked tirelessly to record, collate, edit and publish close on 50 stories from retired police officers, which together showcase the dedication and commitment of those who maintain law, order and justice within our civil society.
