Snippets from a Baby Boomer’s Diary

Between 1946 and 1964, virtually four million babies— ‘baby boomers’—were born in Australia. As people breathed huge sighs of relief at their new-found freedom following the war years, they wanted to give their children everything they perhaps missed out on—a much better life for their offspring: home, secure family, school, and a car for outings. The greatest wealth was no longer
contentment with just a little.
Snippets embarked as an attempt to try and recall most people’s deep connection with Brisbane—the place where numerous Australian baby boomers were born and had become domiciled. It trawls all through the  conservative decades of the 1950s and the action packed swinging 1960s; the political upheavals within the 1970s; and the ‘greed is good’ agendas of the 1980s and beyond.
