Ron Parsons

Ron has had a lifelong interest in the creative arts, having been a signwriter, painter, illustrator, cartoonist, designer, entertainer and author.  At School he won poster competitions, drew his own comic strip, The Adventures of Erk McQuirk, and wrote a play for his High School’s Annual Playday.

At age sixteen he started working at Sydney’s Luna Park as a trainee signwriter.  A variety of occupations followed, including stints in television and publishing.  He became a member of the Australian Writers’ Guild in 1976.

Drawing and painting were studied part-time over the years at Hornsby Evening College, The Royal Art Society of N.S.W. and Auckland Society of Arts in New Zealand.

Ron’s paintings and prints have been widely sold in Australia and New Zealand as have his illustrations for greeting card and calendar publishers. He has also had two solo art exhibitions at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery and a collection of his sports subject paintings are on permanent display at the Sporting Hall of Fame on the Gold Coast.

Three of his books have been published by Boolarong Press.  His latest work is a Comedy Screenplay.  Ron lives in Toowoomba, Queensland.
